Immediate Support

Crisis and Community Resources

You deserve help that matches the urgency of what you are facing.

Color Outside the Lines Counseling is not a crisis-response service, and this website is not monitored for emergencies. If you or someone you care about needs immediate help, use the resources below. You do not have to wait until things become unbearable before reaching out. The lines below are answered by people trained for exactly that. They are free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Free, confidential support for anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, 24 hours a day, every day. Trained counselors answer, and the call is free even without phone service. Chat is available at 988lifeline.org if speaking is harder than typing.

If Someone Is in Immediate Danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a call back, and do not wait to find the right words — say what is happening and where you are.

Crisis Text Line

Text-based crisis support for when talking on the phone does not feel possible right now. A volunteer crisis counselor answers, and the conversation can be about anything that has you overwhelmed — it does not have to be about suicide.

What I Can and Cannot Do in a Crisis

I am a licensed therapist, and I am one person. Messages sent through this website or to the practice email are read during working hours, and I cannot provide emergency support between sessions. That is not a limitation I am apologising for — it is the reason the three numbers above exist, and they are better equipped for that moment than I am.

What I can do is help you find ongoing support. If you are not in immediate danger but you are struggling, a free 15-minute consultation is a place to say what is happening and work out what kind of help fits — including help that is not with me.
